Are you ready for another Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) election? Oakland elects its Mayor, City Council members, City Attorney, City Auditor, and School Directors using ranked-choice voting. For all other races, you'll simply pick your single most preferred candidate, or vote yes or no on a ballot measure.

June Town Hall Meeting Draws a Full House

It was obvious that public safety was much on people's minds, especially with the looming deadline for the city to approve a new budget, as a capacity crowd filled the Rockridge Branch Library meeting room for the June 20 joint Rockridge Community Planning Council - Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council Town Hall meeting.

A major reason for the large turnout was the presence of Oakland Mayor Jean Quan and Interim Police Chief Sean Whent, who both focused their remarks on public safety issues.

Mayor Jean Quan and City Administrator Deanna J. Santana have proposed a balanced budget based on expected revenues and proposed expenditures. Before the City Council holds formal budget hearings to deliberate the budget, a series of Budget Town Hall Meetings, hosted in partnership with City Councilmembers, will be held to gather input from Oakland residents.

RCPC Mayoral Candidate Forum

The Rockridge Community Planning Council is sponsoring a mayoral candidate forum Thursday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the College Preparatory School. Representatives of the League of Women Voters (LWV) will lead and moderate the discussion. All mayoral candidates slated for the November ballot have been invited to the forum.
