Following up on a commitment made at the January RCPC Town Hall meeting, representatives of BART, the City, and Motivate (the bikeshare provider) are beginning the process of re-evaluating possible sites for a bikeshare station for the Ford GoBike bikeshare program.  The program is cosponsored by the City, Motivate, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and bikeshare stations are being located in many cities throughout the Bay Area.  The Rockridge BART station location is a key location within Rockridge, with space for up to 35 bikes.

Rockridge’s New BART Rep Has Change in Mind for Trains and Board

Friday, April 5, 2013

My name is Rebecca Saltzman, and I am the recently elected BART Board Member for District 3, which includes Rockridge.

I'm excited to represent Rockridge on the board. For five years, I lived a short walk away from the Rockridge BART station and used it frequently.

I have advocated for transit, bicycle, and pedestrian issues in Oakland and the East Bay for many years. When I'm not at BART, I'm Government Affairs Manager for the California League of Conservation Voters, where I help pass state laws protecting our transit systems and environment.

The Rockridge BART Plaza is a long-time plan coming closer to fruition.

RCPC, RDA (Rockridge District Association) and BART have developed a plan to enhance the open, planted area at the corner of Keith and College, creating a more inviting, urban space.

Funds for matching grants and project amenities are needed to advance the project. BART has already set aside most of the project funding.

You can help bring this plaza to life. Contributions may be made via PayPal or credit card online at RCPC Web site, www.rockridge.org/rockridgeplaza.html.
