Claremont Middle School parent Kristofer Brekke is pictured with the iconic Claremont School gate at the corner of Birch Court and College Avenue. Brekke heads a fundraising campaign to complete a full restoration of the gate. Claremont Wins School District Library Program Award

At the year-end school district meeting, Claremont School Library was presented with the Oakland Unified School District's (OUSD) award for "Best Innovative Practice in School Libraries" for 2013.

The 7th grade "Blind Date With A Book" project was judged to be the most inventive program in the district this year.
