DMV: 'Get Ready for Spring'
It's time to get ready for spring and summer at our local open-space gem, the Rockridge Temescal Greenbelt and Frog Park. Come out for a community work day on Earth Day, Saturday April 18, 9 a.m. to noon, sponsored by FROG and the DMV Neighbors Association.
Tasks at Big and Little Frog will be to remove debris, turn fibar (the bark-like cushioning material under the play structures), sift and clean sand, care for plants in the butterfly garden and along the path, and rake out the pond so the creek can flow again.
The DMV Neighbors Association is coordinating clearing the creek bed, and raking, weeding, pruning, and trash collecting along the greenbelt between Clifton and Little Frog, also to ready the creek to flow again. Many cleanup activities are kid-friendly. Tools and gloves will be provided, or bring your own, if you prefer. (Please mark them well as yours.)
Sign in with FROG at Hardy Park for the park cleanup and with the DMV Neighbors Association at Redondo and Cavour for the creek. Snacks and morning coffee will be available courtesy of our neighborhood merchants. Let's make this a fun and successful Earth Day.
