FROG: Earth Day and Park Happenings

Monday, April 13, 2015

FROG Park continues its tradition this year of honoring Earth Day with its annual Earth Day volunteer event. Pitch in and help clean up this neighborhood gem; bring your own tools, or use ours. Every year since 2002, Earth Day at Frog Park has been a way for neighbors to connect with one another and to renew and celebrate the work of the original 1,300 volunteers who built this park on a then-vacant lot in 2001.

This year, we plan to replant the butterfly garden and clean up the Frog Park pond. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Frog Park Happenings

A hearty thank you to all who have generously contributed so far: FROG Park continues fundraising and planning for an improved playground area with new equipment. Please visit frogpark.org for updates, or to get involved.

Frog Park was featured in the February, 2014, issue of Landscape Architecture magazine as an exemplar of community bootstrapping for local parks. Frog Park was one of a handful of Bay Area parks built with grit, alternative funding, and volunteer labor. (We're glowing! Visit our website for the full article.)

On April 14, Greater & Greener, a biannual international conference on urban parks, will feature Frog Park in a mobile workshop and tour, led by FROG Park committee leaders. More information at:
