Lower Rockridge Parents Group Hosts 14th Annual Community Yard Sale

Monday, April 13, 2015

The Lower Rockridge Parents Group (LRPG) holds its annual Community Yard and Bake Sale this month, the proceeds of which will benefit Peralta Elementary and Claremont Middle School. The sale takes place on the Peralta School playground on Alcatraz Avenue between Telegraph Avenue and Dana Street on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

LRPG was founded in 2001 by three neighborhood moms who had two specific goals in mind: to build community support for Peralta, their neighborhood elementary public school, and to increase the general feeling of community within the Lower Rockridge neighborhood.

One LRPG event has become a rite of spring: the annual Community Yard Sale. The Yard Sale is a great opportunity for friends and neighbors to do some spring cleaning, shop for great stuff, meet new friends, catch up with old friends, and have a coffee and brownie in one of Peralta's many gardens.

This Yard Sale is like no other. It's one of the East Bay's largest and has raised over $53,500 to help support our neighborhood public schools.

Through the years, LRPG Yard Sale proceeds have helped support music, art, and physical and science education at Peralta and Claremont. Collaboration among the schools' communities, neighbors and businesses has helped buoy Peralta and Claremont during difficult financial times.

Items not sold are donated to other charities. Past charities receiving donated items include: Clausen House; Elizabeth House; Bananas; Alta Bates Thrift Shop; and The Salvation Army.

Donate, volunteer, shop and enjoy.
