RCPC Land Use Committee to Preview Calif. College of Arts Plans, discuss impacts of housing scenarios

College of Arts campus proposed for market rate and affordable artist housing
Friday, September 22, 2017

The RCPC Land Use Committee will hold its regular September meeting at the Rockridge branch library upstairs meeting room on Wednesday, September 27th, starting at 7:30 PM.  At this point, there are two items on the agenda:

1)  A presentation by Equity Community Builders and Emerald Fund of plans for the reuse/redevelopment of the Broadway campus of the California College of Arts.  The firm has been chosen by the CCA board of trustees to develop a plan.  They will give a fifteen minute presentation and answer questions.  According to a letter released by the CCA president, plans will include preserving historic buildings, commemorating the site's history, and providing both market rate housing and affordable artist housing, as well as artist studio space.

2)  An initial discussion of analyzing the impacts of the five alternative housing scenarios for Rockridge.  Once the analysis is complete, it will serve to help Rockridge residents make an informed decision about what they would like RCPC to present to the City as a proposal on how to guide Rockridge's housing future.  You can find the (incomplete) draft analysis here.  The five alternatives are described here, and the introductory presentation about Rockridge housing is available here.
